Baby Steps: Part 13

It has been awhile since my last post, (Sorry!) but I left it off with me getting ready to fly to PA for James’s graduation.  If you need a refresher, read Catching up: Part 12

James and I at his graduation ceremony.

I was so happy that I got to be there for his graduation.  I flew in on a Friday in December of 2015 and left on Sunday night, so it was a short trip, but a great one.  I got to see his parents, hangout with his friends, and spend time with him.  We went out to dinner with his family after the ceremony and walked around the town.  James and I made a stop at our favorite breakfast place there the next morning and later that day we went with his roommates to pick out a Christmas tree at a farm. Getting to be a part of things like this made me wish even more than we could do this all the time.

My plane was leaving later that day, so we decided to go for a walk by a railroad track through the woods at the bottom of the campus.  My flight was leaving in a few hours, so things were a little depressing.

“Things are so much more fun when you are around.  I never have this much fun here,” he said, holding my and as we walked along the tracks.

I knew what he meant, everyday things are so much better when we get to do them together.  I was glad I could be with him to make sure he had a fun graduation weekend.

It came time to leave for the airport. This place is either our favorite place to be because it means we are picking each other up, or it is our least favorite because we have to say goodbye.  It is so hard going from being with each other and getting to laugh at each other, hold hands, cuddle, and hang out, to being forced to go back to texting.  Thankfully he only has a few more months to figure out what the plan will be for next year.  He has a job interview for a job in PA because he has to stay to finish up his flight training.  But we are getting closer to figuring out the plan for him to move to MA. Him graduating was a big check that had to get done before he could start thinking about the move. We have made it so far, and the distance is almost over.  That’s what I have to tell myself.  Baby steps.

I am seeing him in less than a month because he is flying to Florida over Christmas break (2015).  He lands on New Year’s Eve, so at least we have that to look forward to!

He landed a few hours before midnight on New Year’s Eve, so after picking him up from the airport, my sister, her friend, James and I all went out to an event in town.  The streets which were usually full of cars were now packed with people wearing glow sticks and hats that said “2016.”  Before going to the New Year’s Eve party, we exchanged Christmas presents which we both get so excited for.

The New Year’s Eve kiss at midnight.

At the New Year’s Eve night party, we walked around, danced to the D.J., got food from the food trucks, and of course, kissed under the fireworks at midnight.  When I picked him up at the airport, I told him he wasn’t allowed to kiss me until midnight, so we both we excited when 2016 rolled around.

Being with him is so fun.  The next day we went to a big farmer’s market and a huge brewery.

While he was there we made a stop at our favorite Irish Pub for a dinner date and walked around the shops in the plaza. Unfortunately, our time ran out, as it always does.  I can’t wait for the day that we don’t have to say goodbye.  We wouldn’t be seeing each other until spring break…unless of course I planned a surprise visit!…
